Project Description
project brief
At the heart of our mission at Gustie is to support nonprofits. When we are asked to participate in a nonprofit project or create a collaboration with a client, we are all in! Because of our support of nonprofits, we were recommended to design, plan and manage an Oxfam Hunger Banquet event in Overland Park, KS.
design for good
To bring an Oxfam Hunger Banquet to life, right in the middle of the US, we worked with a committee of 30 volunteers who were very dedicated to the event.
We designed a multi-sensory experience for attendees that included three tiers of dining experience with food appropriate for the tier, guest speakers on hunger issues, food inequity, and homelessness, a dynamic music world soundtrack and an event video.
This pop up event was attended by over 300 people and raised awareness about suburban poverty in the US and food inequality around the world.
challenges we’ve faced
Planning a large scale experiential event with over 300 attendees has unique challenges of logistics, food prep, security and WIFI/technology. We delegated roles to committee members with expertise in each area, and the event was a huge success.
